Community Engagement That Builds Trust

This work reflects an approach to community engagement that prioritizes depth over reach. Moving beyond surface-level outreach, it centers communication, partnership development, and empathy-driven storytelling that honor the voices and lived experiences of the communities involved.

Across these projects, the focus has been on building conditions for stronger participation, sustained trust, and programs that reflect real community needs rather than assumed ones.

Reimagining Community Connection at Daystar Life Center

Community engagement strategy, partnership development, storytelling, grant communications, program design

Overview:

At Daystar Life Center, I supported a shift from traditional outreach to deeper, relationship-based engagement. My work focused on building trust with local residents and strengthening organizational collaboration, making space for solutions designed with, not just for, the community.

What I Did:

 
  • Developed and implemented engagement strategies rooted in empathy and inclusion

  • Facilitated cross-organizational partnerships to align resources and deepen impact

  • Designed grant support tools to track outcomes and tell compelling, human-centered stories

  • Refined program operations to improve accessibility and responsiveness

  • Created accessible communications that translated data into meaningful narratives

Impact:

 

This work led to increased resident participation, more equitable program design, and stronger relationships between the organization and community members. By centering listening, co-creation, and storytelling, Daystar’s outreach became a model for engagement grounded in dignity and trust.

Elevating Local Voices Through Strategic Storytelling

Digital communications, community engagement, nonprofit partnerships, storytelling, email strategy

Overview:

At Pinellas Community Foundation (PCF), I helped strengthen the connection between the Foundation and the community by refining their storytelling and digital engagement strategies. Our work emphasized transparency, relevance, and collaboration, with a focus on amplifying the work of local nonprofits and building bridges with donors and partners.

What I Did:

 
  • Shaped content strategy for monthly newsletters and social media to highlight real community impact

  • Created messaging frameworks for initiatives like PCF Membership and the Nonprofit Resource Hub

  • Guided storytelling for The Giving Current podcast and major grant announcements

  • Supported internal alignment around tone, audience, and communication goals

  • Elevated visibility through a refreshed, consistent digital voice

Impact:

 

This partnership helped PCF deepen trust with its fundholders, nonprofit partners, and the broader public. By centering the voices of grantees and local residents, we helped move engagement from transactional to relational, strengthening the Foundation’s role as both a community convener and advocate.
